Prospectus

To the Artist

Utah's Hogle Zoo's annual art show is a competition/ exhibition which is intended to encourage diverse artistic interpretation of the natural world. The goal of the exhibit is to bring together the works of serious, contemporary artists whose ideas might help us all gain a greater appreciation and concern for wildlife and wild places.

Eligibility

The Zoo Art Exhibition is open to all living Utah artists with a limit of two entries per artist.  Entries are limited to original works of art in all media, completed in the last three years.  Entries may be in any of the following categories:
1. Fine Art (any medium)
2. Photography
3. 3-D (three-dimensional media.)

Jury Process

- Once the pieces have been submitted, they will go through and initial jury process by a qualified juror who will select a set number of pieces that will be chosen to brought into the Zoo for the final jury process.  The peices bought into the Zoo will then go through a final jury process to select the pieces that will be in the show.

Awards

$1,000 in cash awards and sponsorship awards.

Opening

An awards reception for artists and invited guests will be held Thursday, January 28th 2021, from 4:00- 8:30 p.m. in the RendeZOO Room.

Entry Fee

A non-refundable entry/handling fee of $30 for up to two pieces. 

Sales

We only accept artwork that is for sale. Utah's Hogle Zoo will retain a 30% commission on all sales.

Conditions

-Works must be finished, dry and ready for installation.
-All materials necessary for the installation and display of the work must be delivered with the work.
-Frameless clips and shrink wrapping are not acceptable.
-All photos and drawings should be protected behind glass.
-All accepted entries will be considered temporary loans to Utah’s Hogle Zoo and shall remain in its possession for the duration of the exhibition. No early withdrawals will be permitted.
-Utah’s Hogle Zoo cannot be held responsible for minor wear and tear resulting from normal handling.
-The Zoo will insure exhibited work until seven day after the show ends. Art work must be picked up during posted dates and hours or the artwork will be placed in storage at the artist’s own risk and expense.
-Each piece of art will subject to the jury process and be selected on its merit, quality and appropriateness of subject matter. There is no guarantee that any given piece or artist will be automatically be accepted into the show.
-The submission of your entry shall be understood to indicate your agreement with the terms and conditions set forth in this prospectus.

Receiving

Utah's Hogle Zoo will accept pieces selected in the initial jurying process on January 15th, 16th, and 17th between 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.*  Final acceptance notifications will be emailed by January 21st.

Pick-Up

Artwork not selected in the final jurying process can be picked up at the Zoo on January 23rd from 10 a.m. -12 p.m.  Non-exhibited artwork can also be picked the night of the Opening Reception. Exhibited work should be picked up on March 1st from 10 a.m.- 12 p.m.  If these dates and times are not convenient, you must call to make arrangements to pick up your art work at (801) 584-1716.
Any Artwork not picked up by March 31st may be considered a donation to the Zoo.
